Short History of Photography

-What did the first image ever look like? What was unique about the sun in this image? It was very blurry, dark and poor quality.

-When was the first image in North America recorded? 1826

-How long was the exposure time?   8 hours of exposure time

-What does the word ‘exposure’ mean in this case? That it would take 8 hours to take the exposure picture so you would have to stay still using needles and neck braces to capture the picture.
-What does the word ‘sedate’ mean? To immobilize them to take the picture and make them stay still.
-What was used to ‘sedate’ people so they could sit for long exposures? Needles and Neck Braces.
-What is a mobile dark room? What were they used for? They would go place to place to take pictures.
-Who is credited with developing film and reducing exposure time? When was this? George Eastman Kodak in the 1880’s
-When was the first hand held camera available? 1888 the first hand held camera came along.
-When was the first permanent colour image taken? 1861 was the first permanent colour.
-What came about in the 1920′s… Why was is safer? The first flash bulb. In the 1920’s you could start taking pictures in the flash. You had to use potassium chloride and magnesium.
